Meet our Selection Advisory Committee

During each application period our selection advisory committee diligently reviews and rates every single application. Our committee meets regularly to discuss each application and ultimately choose the awarded families.  We take great pride in the ability to help families fund their adoption.

Keely Waller

Picture
Keely Waller is the Founder of Mighty Families by Adoption. After Keely and her husband, Luke, battled infertility and eventually adopted two precious daughters in 2016, they realized the emotional and financial burdens put on families who pursue adoption. Keely wanted to create this fund as a way to help other families pursue their dreams of adoption without the heavy burden of financial debt. Keely and Luke reside in Kansas.
Keely is the creator of Mighty Mamas by Adoption, an online community of (waiting) mamas who are in the process of adopting or who have already adopted. The Mighty Mamas community has spread throughout all 50 states and many different countries. She's also a freelance writer for three well-known parenting/adoption publications..  She is passionate about adoption and connecting with other adoptive families. When she's not working, you'll find her outside with her family hiking, kayaking, biking, camping, adventuring, running, doing Crossfit or in the garden! She has many titles and hobbies but her favorite will forever be "mama".

Luke Waller

Luke Waller is also the Founder of Mighty Families by Adoption. Luke is Keely's husband and dad of their two girls, Triss and Burke. Luke has also become passionate about adoption and loves to connect with other adoptive families who have faced the emotions and challenges that adoption brings. Luke is excited to be able to help support families in their adoption journey!
Luke works for a consulting firm for financial advisors around the country. When he's not working, you can usually find him at home with his family, doing Crossfit, at the grill, or reading. Luke and his family love outdoor activities and living a slow, unhurried life. They also love traveling and exploring new places! When their girls get a little older, Luke and Keely plan to visit and backpack through many of the National Parks!

Candice Lavalette

Picture
Candice Lavalette has been married to Shane since 2001 and they have two boys, Jett and Axel. Candice works as an office manager at a Mental Health Office and work part-time for Shane’s airboat company. They planned to start a family early in their marriage, but that definitely didn’t go as planned! After 13 years of multiple doctor visits, several failed infertility treatments, and countless days of tears, their dream of having biological children was gone. God had another plan. In January of 2014, the Lavalette's were approached to foster two boys who needed a temporary home. They eagerly agreed and 72 hours later two little boys arrived at our door step. Through another three years of pain, frustration, and tears, they finally adopted their two boys and became a forever family!

Erin Steinmetz

Picture
Erin is also a mama by adoption. Erin and her husband, Tommy, have been married since 2011. After years of trying to conceive, they chose to grow their family through infant domestic adoption. After waiting only 8 months they met their baby girl, Tatum, in 2015 and their lives changed forever! Erin and her family are currently in the process of beginning their next adoption journey. When she's not at home with her family, Erin works part time as a florist 3 days a week. She also loves to read and spend time in the kitchen baking and trying new recipes. Erin and her family also love to get outside, visit the zoo, and partake in daily dance parties in their living room!

Kala Melton

Picture
Kala is a media buyer, by trade,  however her favorite job/title is “Mommy”.  Kala and her husband, JD, fought infertility for 6-7 years with 9 early pregnancy losses.  After years of struggling, they had a particular conversation with their Reproductive Endocrinologist as they discussed their options.  It resonated so much with the Melton's, and that is when they knew, adoption was the path that was meant to be for them.  They were chosen by a courageous young woman to become parents to their beautiful Lenox Rose in February of 2015. Lenox is all they have ever dreamt of in a daughter and more.  They love to spend time outside on walks and visiting the park. Kala feels it is an honor to be able to serve on a board that could potentially heal hearts, build families and spread love through adoption.
